The Opportunity:

As Head of Geography, you will lead the Geography department, shaping the curriculum and driving student progress. This role offers the chance to influence teaching standards and make a meaningful impact on student achievement and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring a high-quality and engaging curriculum.
  • Monitor and track student progress across all key stages, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to raise attainment and achievement in Geography.
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to teaching and learning.
  • Represent the department at staff meetings and other school events.
  • Ensure that the Geography curriculum is inclusive, relevant, and meets the needs of all students.
  • Promote a positive and motivating learning environment for students and colleagues alike.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Geography.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of Geography curriculum and assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive and student-centered teaching.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Familiarity with United Learning’s educational philosophy.
  • Experience in managing and developing a departmental team.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary on the ULT Teachers’ Pay Scale (£35,000 - £51,000) + TLR2.
