The Opportunity:

The Head of Geography will lead the department and deliver engaging lessons to students in Years 9 to 13. This role is ideal for an experienced and enthusiastic educator who is passionate about Geography and committed to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department with a focus on academic excellence and student engagement.
  • Deliver high-quality, varied, and challenging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Support students in their university applications and provide guidance on Geography-related undergraduate courses.
  • Implement the Cambridge (CIE) IGCSE and Edexcel (Pearson) A-Level specifications effectively.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the co-curricular and pastoral aspects of the school.
  • Foster a positive learning environment and maintain high expectations for student behavior and effort.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate innovative teaching strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior staff within the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good 2:1 honours degree from a British university in Geography or a related subject.
  • Qualified teacher status for secondary education with a subject specialism in Geography.
  • Recent experience teaching IGCSE and A Level Geography.
  • Previous experience as Head of Department.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to modify learning strategies for individual students.
  • Native-level English speaking ability.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an independent or international school.
  • Recent teaching experience in a UK-based school.
