The Opportunity:
The Head of Geography will lead the department and deliver engaging lessons to students in Years 9 to 13. This role is ideal for an experienced and enthusiastic educator who is passionate about Geography and committed to student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Geography department with a focus on academic excellence and student engagement.
- Deliver high-quality, varied, and challenging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Support students in their university applications and provide guidance on Geography-related undergraduate courses.
- Implement the Cambridge (CIE) IGCSE and Edexcel (Pearson) A-Level specifications effectively.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the co-curricular and pastoral aspects of the school.
- Foster a positive learning environment and maintain high expectations for student behavior and effort.
- Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate innovative teaching strategies.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior staff within the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good 2:1 honours degree from a British university in Geography or a related subject.
- Qualified teacher status for secondary education with a subject specialism in Geography.
- Recent experience teaching IGCSE and A Level Geography.
- Previous experience as Head of Department.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to modify learning strategies for individual students.
- Native-level English speaking ability.
Preferred
- Experience working in an independent or international school.
- Recent teaching experience in a UK-based school.
