Head of Girls' Games - Maternity Cover role available at a leading independent school.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Girls' Games to join our team on a maternity cover basis, starting February 2026. This role offers the chance to lead and inspire a vibrant PE programme, with a focus on fostering enthusiasm for Physical Education and promoting lifelong learning among students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Girls' Games department, ensuring a high-quality and engaging PE programme.
  • Deliver and develop Physical Education curriculum, including GCSE-level teaching.
  • Inspire and motivate students through innovative and challenging sporting activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the overall PE strategy.
  • Support the development of a positive and inclusive sporting culture within the school.
  • Ensure the safe and effective delivery of all PE activities and fixtures.
  • Work closely with the Head of PE to align departmental goals with school objectives.
  • Promote the school's sporting ethos and values through student engagement and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Physical Education, including GCSE-level qualifications.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in leading a department.
  • Commitment to promoting lifelong learning and student well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a collaborative environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a Girls' Games programme or similar role.
  • Knowledge of competitive sport and fixture management.
  • Experience in developing and delivering extra-curricular sporting activities.
  • Familiarity with the independent school sector.
