We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of History Department to lead and inspire students in their academic journey. This role is ideal for a senior teacher with a proven track record in departmental leadership and a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the History Department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with the school’s academic and pastoral goals.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and student progress, ensuring alignment with national standards.
  • Support and mentor teachers within the department, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous professional development.
  • Represent the department in meetings, inspections, and external events.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure the department contributes to the school’s overall mission and vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a senior teacher with a strong track record in departmental leadership.
  • Relevant subject knowledge and qualifications in History.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
