Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the history department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Deliver outstanding lessons that reflect the school’s vision and values.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school and trust to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and community engagement.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to implement school strategies and improve student outcomes.
  • Ensure that the department aligns with the school’s Christian ethos and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in history.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Strong track record in teaching and inspiring students to achieve high standards.
  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership.
  • Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and values.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department within a multi-academy trust.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices in history teaching.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to contribute to cross-phase professional development opportunities.
