The Opportunity:
As the Head of Hockey, you will lead the development and delivery of a high-quality hockey program that supports the school’s mission of fostering excellence, happiness, and lifelong success. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the hockey program, ensuring it meets the highest standards of coaching and player development.
- Manage the recruitment, training, and performance of hockey players across all age groups.
- Collaborate with the school’s pastoral and academic teams to support student well-being and achievement.
- Organize and oversee fixtures, training sessions, and competitions, including preseason and out-of-term events.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusivity within the hockey department.
- Promote the school’s values through the delivery of a positive and engaging sports experience.
- Work closely with parents and external stakeholders to build strong relationships and support the school’s mission.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Head of Hockey or in a similar leadership role within a school or sports organization.
- Strong coaching and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
- In-depth knowledge of hockey, including training methodologies, competition formats, and player development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with the ability to work in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
Preferred
- Experience working in a co-educational or boarding school environment.
- Familiarity with the unique demands of a new or innovative educational institution.
- Knowledge of alternative qualifications and innovative teaching methods.
- Experience in organizing and managing sports fixtures and events.
- Strong understanding of the importance of sports in holistic student development.
