The Opportunity:
As the Head of Humanities Faculty, you will lead and inspire a team of passionate educators to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across the Humanities subjects. This role is pivotal in shaping the academic and cultural landscape of the school, ensuring the Humanities remain central to the school’s mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Humanities Faculty to ensure excellence in teaching and learning.
- Work closely with colleagues to implement innovative and engaging curriculum strategies.
- Support the professional development of staff through mentorship and training opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement in Humanities subjects.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align faculty goals with the school’s strategic objectives.
- Promote a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement across the department.
- Ensure the school’s values of ambition and respect are reflected in all aspects of faculty operations.
- Represent the Humanities Faculty in meetings and events, both internally and externally.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a faculty or department within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in History, with a preference for History specialists.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
- Experience in curriculum design and delivery at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Commitment to inclusive education and supporting student achievement.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department to Ofsted inspection standards.
- Background in school improvement and leadership development.
- Familiarity with the Unity Schools Partnership and its values.
- Experience with cross-curricular collaboration and community engagement.
