The Opportunity:

As the Head of Humanities Faculty, you will lead and inspire a high-performing team, ensuring academic excellence and alignment with IB and IGCSE standards. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced educator looking to make a meaningful impact on student learning and faculty development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Humanities Faculty, ensuring alignment with IB and IGCSE frameworks.
  • Lead, mentor, and support faculty members to promote excellence in teaching and student outcomes.
  • Oversee curriculum development and assessment practices to ensure high academic standards.
  • Coordinate departmental planning, budgeting, and professional development needs.
  • Implement faculty assessment policies and moderation processes consistently.
  • Organise and lead faculty meetings to foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Contribute to whole-school academic strategy and planning initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience leading a department or team, or clear evidence of leadership potential in an academic context.
  • Experience teaching IB and/or IGCSE in Geography, History, Economics (one or more).
  • A degree in one of these disciplines or a closely related field.
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of IB assessment criteria, including IAs and EEs.
  • Ability to set high expectations and adapt teaching practices to support diverse learners.
  • Excellent assessment literacy and commitment to using data to improve learning outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and strategic planning within Humanities subjects.
  • Previous experience teaching Senior School (ages 15–18).
  • C2-level English proficiency (or native equivalent).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide colleagues.
