The Opportunity:

A school is seeking an inspiring and experienced Head of Humanities to lead and develop its diverse department. This role offers the opportunity to shape a high-quality, research-based Humanities programme aligned with Cambridge IGCSE and A Level standards, impacting student learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee pedagogical practices and classroom management across all Humanities subjects including Geography, History, Business, and Economics.
  • Drive curriculum development aligned with Cambridge IGCSE and A Level specifications.
  • Lead, manage, and appraise department staff to foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Ensure planning, preparation, and assessment meet the expectations of the school and external examination boards.
  • Promote cross-curricular links and contribute to the wider development and growth of the school.
  • Model excellent teaching practices and support the professional development of department members.
  • Uphold the Lasallian mission and core values in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Prior experience in teaching Cambridge IGCSE and A Level in at least two Humanities subjects.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading or coordinating a multi-disciplinary faculty.
  • Deep pedagogical knowledge across the department’s subject range.
  • Commitment to pupil wellbeing and character development.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership within an international school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with service learning initiatives and extra-curricular programmes.
