Summary:

Head of Humanities Teacher needed to lead and develop GCSE curriculum at a growing school.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Humanities Teacher, you will lead and develop the curriculum for History and Geography up to Year 11, with a focus on GCSE. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the educational experience of students in a rapidly expanding institution, while contributing to the school's mission of academic excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the History and Geography curriculum for Years 7–11, with a focus on GCSE.
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, departmental colleagues, and parents to support student learning and development.
  • Support the school’s expansion by contributing to the planning and delivery of lessons for Year 9 and beyond.
  • Manage and develop a team of teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the life of the school by participating in afterschool co-curricular activities and other initiatives.
  • Ensure that teaching and learning practices align with the school’s academic standards and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in delivering History and Geography lessons at GCSE level.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a school or educational setting.
  • Demonstrable ability to plan, deliver, and develop a high-quality curriculum for Years 7–11.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and colleagues.
  • Experience in teaching up to and including GCSE in both Geography and History.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with willingness to undergo required pre-employment checks.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Religious Studies.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of teachers.
  • Experience in a growing or expanding school environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Passion for inspiring students and fostering a love of learning.
