The Opportunity:

As the Head of Learning Support - Secondary, you will lead and manage a team of Learning Support teachers, ensuring that students with diverse needs receive the highest quality of support. This role is central to creating an inclusive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Learning Support teachers, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality provision for students with learning needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans based on student assessments and referrals.
  • Collaborate with class teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals such as psychologists and therapists to ensure effective support strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of learning support interventions using a range of data and assessment tools.
  • Promote inclusive practices and ensure that all students have equitable access to learning opportunities.
  • Work closely with parents and guardians to maintain open communication and support student progress.
  • Stay up to date with current research and best practices in learning support and special educational needs.
  • Provide professional development and mentorship to support staff within the Learning Support team.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a team of Learning Support teachers.
  • In-depth knowledge of identifying and addressing the needs of students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive practices and support strategies in a school setting.
  • Experience working with external agencies such as psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to measure the effectiveness of learning support interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and staff.

Preferred

  • International or UK school experience.
  • Experience with the National Curriculum of England and Wales or similar curricula.
  • Familiarity with technology-enhanced learning and digital tools such as Google Apps for Education.
  • Experience in professional development and teacher training.
