The Opportunity:

The Head of Lower School will provide visionary leadership, shaping the academic and pastoral direction of the Lower School. This role is pivotal in ensuring a positive, purposeful, and professional school culture, with a strong emphasis on pupil progress and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Lower School, ensuring high standards in all aspects of school life.
  • Promote the school’s vision, ethos, and policies, inspiring pupils, teachers, and staff.
  • Work with the Head Master and Senior Leadership Team to deliver strategic direction aligned with the school’s mission.
  • Oversee curriculum development, ensuring alignment with national and international standards.
  • Manage the performance of teaching staff and support their professional development.
  • Ensure the implementation of effective pastoral systems and support for all pupils.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning practices through classroom observations and learning walks.
  • Promote and market the school to support admissions and staff recruitment.
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents, stakeholders, and the wider community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Appropriate degree with UK PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • At least 4 years of senior leadership experience in an international school setting.
  • Experience in managing staff performance and leading a team.
  • Working knowledge of the UK National Curriculum including EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Strong understanding of child development and positive behaviour management.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in Education.
  • Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs, including EAL.
  • Experience in international accreditation and inspection frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning and school development.
