Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics Department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum aligned with school priorities.
  • Monitor and support pupil progress, providing targeted interventions where needed.
  • Oversee the effective deployment of staff and resources within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and national requirements, including health and safety standards.
  • Promote professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practice.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s strategic vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified to at least degree level or professional equivalent.
  • Qualified to teach and work in the U.K.
  • Experience in raising attainment in mathematics.
  • Experience in secondary education.
  • Excellent classroom teaching skills with a passion for student achievement.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and managing a department.
  • Familiarity with current pedagogical trends and curriculum developments.
  • Experience with assessment and marking policies.
  • Experience in staff appraisal and development.
