The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and attainment.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department to maintain and enhance the curriculum.
  • Support and mentor staff to foster professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted interventions where needed.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Work with colleagues across the school to integrate mathematics into cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Represent the department at staff meetings, governing body meetings, and other relevant forums.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong academic background in Mathematics, with a relevant degree.
  • Significant experience in teaching and leading Mathematics at secondary level.
  • Proven ability to raise attainment and deliver outstanding results.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team in a school setting.
  • Familiarity with the use of digital tools and resources in Mathematics education.
  • Experience in curriculum development or assessment design.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in Mathematics education.
