The Opportunity:
As Head of Mathematics, you will lead a dynamic and accomplished department, shaping the future of mathematics education for students from Years 7 to 13. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and visionary educator to drive academic excellence and foster a love of mathematics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Deliver outstanding Mathematics instruction to students at GCSE and A Level, including OCR B specifications.
- Promote a culture of innovation, critical thinking, and student engagement through enrichment and extension activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the learning experience for students.
- Support the school’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism in all aspects of departmental work.
- Contribute to the co-curriculum and student welfare, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent achievement and academic success.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s educational vision.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A degree in Mathematics, preferably with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience in teaching Mathematics at KS3, GCSE, and A Level.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Mathematics education.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to student well-being, safeguarding, and inclusion.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and drive continuous improvement.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Familiarity with Edexcel and Pearson qualifications.
- Involvement in co-curricular activities and student development.
- Experience in promoting diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism in education.
