The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Mathematics to lead and inspire a high-achieving department. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of mathematics education and ensuring students achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department with a focus on academic excellence and student achievement.
  • Develop and implement a clear vision for the department, aligned with the school’s mission and values.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 to 5, ensuring a strong foundation in mathematics for all students.
  • Support and mentor teachers within the department, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring that all learners reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate mathematics into broader learning experiences.
  • Represent the department in meetings, conferences, and external events, promoting the school’s academic standards.
  • Ensure the curriculum is up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with national standards and the school’s educational goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics, with the ability to teach across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and raising standards in Mathematics.
  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or academy.
  • Familiarity with the United Learning Trust and its values.
  • Experience in leading a department through Ofsted inspections or similar processes.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision.
  • Strong experience in professional development and staff training.
