The Opportunity:

As Head of Mathematics, you will lead the development of a high-performing maths department and drive outstanding outcomes for students. This role is central to ensuring the school continues to deliver exceptional education and supports the professional growth of all staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a coherent and effective mathematics curriculum that ensures the best outcomes for all students.
  • Lead and support a high-performing maths team through professional development and collaboration.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to shape the school’s academic vision and strategy.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Promote the school’s values and ensure they are embedded in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external partners to enhance the maths offering and raise standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development of teaching practices and assessment strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a maths department with a track record of improved student outcomes.
  • Strong subject knowledge in mathematics and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Experience in curriculum design and implementation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team effectively.
  • Familiarity with assessment and data analysis for continuous improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience in a large or multi-academy trust environment.
  • Leadership experience in a high-performing school or academy.
