The Opportunity:
As the Head of Maths, you will lead the teaching and learning of Maths for Year 9 and 10 students, driving academic outcomes and inspiring a passion for the subject. This role is ideal for an experienced educator looking to take on leadership and make a meaningful impact on student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Maths department for Year 9 and 10, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in Maths.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support and interventions where needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop innovative teaching methods.
- Support and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with whole-school priorities.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school’s values.
- Stay up to date with educational research and developments in Maths pedagogy.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Maths at Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Strong subject knowledge and a track record of successful teaching practice.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the school’s ethos and values.
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership role, such as Head of Department or similar.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Experience in driving improvement and raising standards in Maths.
- Familiarity with educational research and innovation in teaching and learning.
- A passion for inspiring students and fostering a love of Maths.
