The Opportunity:

As the Head of Maths, you will lead the teaching and learning of Maths for Year 9 and 10 students, driving academic outcomes and inspiring a passion for the subject. This role is ideal for an experienced educator looking to take on leadership and make a meaningful impact on student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Maths department for Year 9 and 10, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in Maths.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support and interventions where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop innovative teaching methods.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with whole-school priorities.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school’s values.
  • Stay up to date with educational research and developments in Maths pedagogy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Maths at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a track record of successful teaching practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos and values.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role, such as Head of Department or similar.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Experience in driving improvement and raising standards in Maths.
  • Familiarity with educational research and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • A passion for inspiring students and fostering a love of Maths.
