The Opportunity:

As Head of Maths, you will lead and inspire a dynamic department, driving excellence in teaching and learning. You will play a key role in shaping the future of mathematics education, supporting colleagues, and ensuring outstanding outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the maths department to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Support and coach colleagues in developing their practice and improving student achievement.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of an innovative and rigorous maths curriculum.
  • Monitor and analyse student progress to ensure consistent improvement across all year groups.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape school-wide strategies for maths education.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, aspiration, and high expectations within the department.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for maths teachers at all levels.
  • Work closely with external partners and subject advisers to enhance teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in mathematics education.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a department.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive improvement in student attainment and progress.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues.
  • Experience in curriculum design and assessment strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a similar ethos and values.
  • Familiarity with knowledge-rich and academically rigorous teaching methods.
  • Experience in leading professional development and coaching teachers.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
