The Opportunity:
As the Head of Media, you will lead a successful and flourishing department that contributes to the school's mission of helping every student reach their maximum potential. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a successful Media department across all key stages.
- Develop and implement a high-quality curriculum that inspires and engages students.
- Support and mentor staff to ensure continued professional development and excellence in teaching.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Collaborate with the wider English team to enhance cross-curricular links and student outcomes.
- Promote the school’s values of respect, responsibility, and effort in all aspects of departmental work.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports the welfare of all students.
- Represent the department at staff meetings, curriculum reviews, and other school events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Media at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
- A strong track record of leading and managing a successful department.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on a leadership role.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and delivering innovative teaching and learning strategies.
- Experience with cross-curricular collaboration and integration with other subjects.
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in Media education.
- Experience in leading professional development initiatives for staff.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £34,398 – £52,490 per annum.
