The Opportunity:

As the Head of Media, you will lead a successful and flourishing department that contributes to the school's mission of helping every student reach their maximum potential. This role offers the opportunity to shape a dynamic and innovative department, with a focus on excellence in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a successful Media department across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a high-quality curriculum that inspires and engages students.
  • Support and mentor staff to ensure continued professional development and excellence in teaching.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with the wider English team to enhance cross-curricular links and student outcomes.
  • Promote the school’s values of respect, responsibility, and effort in all aspects of departmental work.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports the welfare of all students.
  • Represent the department at staff meetings, curriculum reviews, and other school events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Media at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
  • A strong track record of leading and managing a successful department.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on a leadership role.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering innovative teaching and learning strategies.
  • Experience with cross-curricular collaboration and integration with other subjects.
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in Media education.
  • Experience in leading professional development initiatives for staff.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £34,398 – £52,490 per annum.
