The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the MFL department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational vision.
  • Support and mentor MFL teachers, promoting professional development and collaboration.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring consistent and effective teaching practices.
  • Work closely with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Promote the importance of language learning and cultural understanding across the school community.
  • Represent the MFL department at staff meetings, parent events, and external conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and welfare policies, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a successful MFL department in a school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver an engaging and effective curriculum.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching a range of MFL subjects, including French, Spanish, and German.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience in working within a co-educational school environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
