The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that challenges students and promotes academic excellence.
  • Supervise and support departmental staff, providing professional guidance and mentorship.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote extracurricular engagement through language-related activities and events.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate language learning across the curriculum.
  • Ensure compliance with the school’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.
  • Stay up to date with developments in education and incorporate innovative teaching methods into practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher status through a PGCE, GTP, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Experience in designing and delivering engaging, challenging, and personalised lessons.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a department or provide leadership support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of child development and positive disciplinary methods.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience in instructional coaching, ideally accredited.
  • Evidence of involvement in transformational change within a department.
  • Experience in leading or organising extracurricular activities.
  • Evidence of participation in relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
