The Opportunity:
The Head of Music and Performing Arts will lead and develop the department, driving student achievement and fostering a culture of excellence in the arts. This is a key leadership role with significant influence over curriculum and performance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Music and Performing Arts department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging curriculum that inspires student creativity and achievement.
- Supervise and support a team of teachers, providing professional development and mentorship opportunities.
- Coordinate and manage extracurricular activities, performances, and events to promote student engagement and talent.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring that all students reach their full potential.
- Work collaboratively with other departments and external partners to enhance the arts provision.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, Ofsted standards, and national curriculum requirements.
- Promote the school’s arts program through effective communication and community engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Music and Performing Arts.
- Proven track record of improving student achievement and engagement.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in departmental leadership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and deliver high-quality lessons and extracurricular activities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and student success.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar leadership role within a school or academy.
- Strong knowledge of performing arts and music education.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with the Ofsted inspection process and school improvement initiatives.
- Experience in working with a multi-academy trust or similar organization.
