The Opportunity:

As a Head of Music Teacher, you will lead the music department and ensure the delivery of an inspiring and high-quality music curriculum. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced educator looking to make a meaningful impact on student learning and school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the music department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Design and implement a broad, balanced, and inclusive music curriculum aligned with national standards.
  • Review and update schemes of work and resources regularly to support student progress.
  • Support and develop other music staff through coaching and mentoring.
  • Manage the department budget and resources, including instruments and equipment.
  • Promote and enhance the school’s music provision and extracurricular activities.
  • Track student progress and use data to inform teaching and learning strategies.
  • Contribute to PSHE and enterprise education according to school policy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified and experienced Teacher of Music with strong subject knowledge.
  • Experience teaching at KS3 and KS4 levels.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students in music learning.
  • Leadership experience in managing a department team.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Familiarity with examination specifications and assessment practices.
  • Experience in extracurricular music activities and events.
