The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Music Teacher to provide Maternity Cover from September 2026 to June 2027. This role offers the opportunity to lead music education for Prep School students aged 8–13, both boarding and day, and to inspire a lifelong love of music.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality music instruction across a range of instruments and genres.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that foster creativity and musical skill.
  • Support the school's commitment to holistic education through extracurricular music activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance the overall student experience.
  • Provide pastoral care and guidance to students in a warm and supportive manner.
  • Maintain and update teaching resources and materials in line with the school's digital and music education initiatives.
  • Encourage and nurture student performance opportunities, including concerts and events.
  • Work closely with parents and the wider school community to promote the importance of music in education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in music education.
  • Experience teaching music to children aged 8–13 in a school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos and values.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a music department or similar role.
  • Knowledge of digital education tools and resources.
  • Experience with both boarding and day students.
  • Ability to contribute to the school’s outdoor and digital education programmes.
  • Experience in performing arts or music performance.
