The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE, you will lead a successful and enthusiastic department, delivering high-quality PE education up to GCSE and post-16. This role offers the chance to shape the department's direction and inspire students through both curricular and extracurricular activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
- Develop and implement a robust PE curriculum for all key stages
- Oversee extracurricular activities, including sports teams and competitions
- Support the professional development of PE staff
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school objectives
- Promote a positive and inclusive PE culture across the school
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and health and safety policies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge
- Proven experience in teaching PE up to GCSE and post-16
- Leadership experience in a school department
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Commitment to student achievement and staff development
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team
- Ability to teach an additional subject
- Experience with extracurricular sports and competitions
- Familiarity with Catholic education values
