The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the delivery of physical education and extracurricular sports across all year groups. This is an opportunity to lead a successful and popular PE department and inspire students to achieve their full potential through sport and physical activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Develop and implement a dynamic and inclusive PE curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Oversee the management and development of extracurricular sports teams and activities.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment in PE, providing targeted support where needed.
- Work collaboratively with other subject leaders and senior leadership to ensure alignment with school-wide goals and priorities.
- Promote a culture of physical activity and healthy lifestyles across the school community.
- Support the development of staff within the PE department through training, mentoring, and professional development.
- Represent the school at local, regional, and national sporting events and competitions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in leading a PE department.
- Strong subject knowledge in physical education and sports.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching and learning in PE.
- Experience in managing and developing extracurricular sports programs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to inclusion and supporting students with a range of needs.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar leadership role within a school or academy setting.
- Experience of working with students with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in physical education.
- Experience in driving student engagement and achievement in PE and sport.
