The Opportunity:

As the Head of Physical Education (Curriculum and Teaching), you will lead the development and implementation of a high-quality physical education program across the school. This role is ideal for an innovative and collaborative leader who is passionate about promoting health, fitness, and student well-being through engaging and inclusive physical activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum aligned with the IB PYP, MYP, and IGCSE frameworks.
  • Lead and support a team of physical education teachers, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate physical education with other areas of learning and student well-being.
  • Manage and optimize the use of physical education spaces and facilities to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Design and assess physical education programs that encourage participation, inclusivity, and lifelong fitness habits.
  • Promote a culture of health, fitness, and well-being throughout the school community.
  • Ensure alignment with the school’s mission, values, and educational philosophy in all aspects of curriculum delivery and student engagement.
  • Support the development of extracurricular sports and physical activity programs for students of all ages.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience teaching physical education in either primary or secondary settings
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment within an IB PYP and/or MYP framework
  • Strong leadership experience managing a team of educators
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and utilize space effectively for teaching and learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or managing a department or faculty
  • Familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP)
  • Experience in service-learning or pastoral care programs
  • Background in promoting inclusivity and diversity in physical education settings
