The Opportunity:
As the Head of Physical Education (Curriculum and Teaching), you will lead the development and implementation of a high-quality physical education program across the school. This role is ideal for an innovative and collaborative leader who is passionate about promoting health, fitness, and student well-being through engaging and inclusive physical activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum aligned with the IB PYP, MYP, and IGCSE frameworks.
- Lead and support a team of physical education teachers, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate physical education with other areas of learning and student well-being.
- Manage and optimize the use of physical education spaces and facilities to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Design and assess physical education programs that encourage participation, inclusivity, and lifelong fitness habits.
- Promote a culture of health, fitness, and well-being throughout the school community.
- Ensure alignment with the school’s mission, values, and educational philosophy in all aspects of curriculum delivery and student engagement.
- Support the development of extracurricular sports and physical activity programs for students of all ages.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience teaching physical education in either primary or secondary settings
- Proven experience in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment within an IB PYP and/or MYP framework
- Strong leadership experience managing a team of educators
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and utilize space effectively for teaching and learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset
Preferred
- Experience in leading or managing a department or faculty
- Familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP)
- Experience in service-learning or pastoral care programs
- Background in promoting inclusivity and diversity in physical education settings
