The Opportunity:
As the Head of Physical Education, you will lead and inspire the PE department, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience for students. This role is central to delivering a rich and balanced curriculum within a values-driven international school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Deputy Head and PE teachers to plan and implement learning intentions according to the subject syllabi.
- Mentor junior PE teachers in curriculum planning and classroom instruction to ensure student learning outcomes.
- Maintain strong behaviour management in line with school policy.
- Use data to inform planning, target-setting, and reporting.
- Promote professional development through weekly teacher trainings, class explanations, observations, and feedback.
- Model and promote the school’s vision and values across all aspects of school life.
- Provide excellent pastoral care and support pupils in developing good habits, attitudes, and confidence.
- Supervise and support pupils during break and lunch duties.
- Play an active role in the school’s co-curricular programme, House system, and wider school events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree / PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification / Qualified Teacher Status.
- Minimum of 6 years’ relevant teaching experience.
- Experience teaching the UK National Curriculum.
- A proven ability to inspire, motivate, and engage pupils of all abilities.
- Strong management and pastoral skills.
Preferred
- Experience working with EAL learners.
- An understanding of the expectations of UK independent and international schools.
