The Opportunity:

As the Head of Physical Education, you will lead and inspire the PE department, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience for students. This role is central to delivering a rich and balanced curriculum within a values-driven international school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Deputy Head and PE teachers to plan and implement learning intentions according to the subject syllabi.
  • Mentor junior PE teachers in curriculum planning and classroom instruction to ensure student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain strong behaviour management in line with school policy.
  • Use data to inform planning, target-setting, and reporting.
  • Promote professional development through weekly teacher trainings, class explanations, observations, and feedback.
  • Model and promote the school’s vision and values across all aspects of school life.
  • Provide excellent pastoral care and support pupils in developing good habits, attitudes, and confidence.
  • Supervise and support pupils during break and lunch duties.
  • Play an active role in the school’s co-curricular programme, House system, and wider school events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree / PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification / Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ relevant teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching the UK National Curriculum.
  • A proven ability to inspire, motivate, and engage pupils of all abilities.
  • Strong management and pastoral skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with EAL learners.
  • An understanding of the expectations of UK independent and international schools.
