The Opportunity:

As the Head of Physics, you will lead a forward-thinking Science Department and play a key role in inspiring students to excel in Physics and related fields. This is an opportunity to shape a progressive and innovative curriculum and drive academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Physics department, ensuring high-quality teaching and student achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a dynamic and engaging curriculum at KS3, GCSE, and A Level.
  • Support students in developing deep conceptual understanding and practical skills in Physics.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted interventions where needed.
  • Work closely with the Multi-Academy Trust and external partners to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and excellence among department staff.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities.
  • Ensure that the department maintains a calm, positive, and respectful environment for all students and staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Physics.
  • Experience in leading a department or team in an educational setting.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching and achieve excellent student outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation in Science education.
  • Familiarity with employer-led projects and industry partnerships.
  • Experience in working within a Multi-Academy Trust.
  • Knowledge of T-levels and vocational pathways.
