The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Politics Teacher to lead a successful and vibrant department. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Politics education and inspire students with a passion for the subject. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the curriculum and a commitment to excellence in teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Politics department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the academic progress and attainment of all students across key stages.
  • Develop and implement a departmental development plan to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, and rooms effectively.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the school’s academic and strategic goals.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that promote critical thinking and a deep understanding of Politics.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate them into teaching.
  • Support and mentor junior staff within the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
  • Proven experience teaching Politics at A-Level (KS5).
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Politics education.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage a department and lead a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies and technology.
  • A track record of achieving high academic outcomes.
