The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Psychology and Sociology to lead and inspire a thriving department. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development, mentor staff, and drive student success in a school consistently rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Psychology and Sociology department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Manage and support a team of teachers, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Deliver and oversee the curriculum, ensuring it meets the highest academic and pastoral standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent achievement and personal development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular links and student engagement.
  • Promote the school’s Catholic ethos and values through teaching and pastoral care.
  • Represent the department at school-level meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department.
  • Proven track record in teaching Psychology and Sociology at Key Stage 5.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Knowledge of using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support.
  • Involvement in professional learning communities or leadership programs.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organization.
