The Opportunity:
As the Head of Psychology, you will lead and develop a dynamic department, supporting the introduction of the AQA A Level course and continuing the success of the Psychology programme within the IB Diploma. This role offers the chance to shape the future of Psychology education and inspire students at a prestigious institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Psychology department, ensuring high academic standards and a stimulating learning environment.
- Develop and implement the AQA A Level course from September 2026, in line with the school’s strategic vision.
- Deliver engaging and innovative Psychology lessons that inspire student interest and achievement.
- Support the continued success of the Psychology programme within the IB Diploma, with a focus on university progression.
- Oversee and expand the department’s enrichment programme, offering students opportunities beyond the standard curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance the academic and pastoral experience of students.
- Participate actively in the life of the school community, including pastoral and extracurricular activities.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and support to students and colleagues.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a strong background in Psychology education.
- Proven leadership experience within a school department.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student development.
- Experience in teaching Psychology at both GCSE and A Level, or equivalent qualifications.
Preferred
- Experience with the IB Diploma or AQA A Level Psychology curriculum.
- Familiarity with boarding school environments and student welfare.
- Strong understanding of pastoral care and student support.
- Experience in developing and managing enrichment and extracurricular programmes.
- Willingness to engage with the broader school community and contribute to its culture and values.
