The Opportunity:

As the Head of RE, you will lead and inspire a team of teachers to deliver a high-quality religious education curriculum. This role is pivotal in shaping the spiritual and moral development of students, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the RE department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that reflects the school’s values and meets statutory requirements.
  • Support and mentor RE teachers to enhance teaching practice and student outcomes.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive school improvement and strategy.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous professional development within the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment in RE.
  • Ensure effective resource management and use of school facilities.
  • Engage with the wider school community to promote the value of RE.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a department within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the RE curriculum and statutory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values of hard work, trust, and fairness.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of teachers effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Background in pastoral care or student welfare.
  • Experience with data analysis and using insights to improve teaching and learning.
  • Familiarity with flexible working strategies and teacher well-being initiatives.
