Head of Religious Education (RE) opportunity at a successful 11–16 mixed academy.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an inspirational Head of Religious Education to lead the RE department and shape a rigorous, engaging, and inclusive curriculum. This is a key leadership role with the potential to influence the school’s educational vision and impact student learning across key stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the RE curriculum in line with the school’s knowledge-rich approach.
  • Drive high standards of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Monitor and support student progress, ensuring excellent outcomes at KS3 and KS4.
  • Manage departmental resources and assessment strategies effectively.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and uphold the highest standards of behaviour and culture.
  • Support and mentor staff within the RE department.
  • Collaborate with other subject leaders to ensure a cohesive and inclusive curriculum.
  • Ensure the RE department aligns with the school’s values of curiosity, scholarship, and tenacity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A qualified teacher with experience in Religious Education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, ideally in a senior or lead role.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching RE.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and ethos.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • A track record of improving student outcomes and engagement.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with the school’s knowledge-rich approach to education.
