The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Religious Studies to lead a dynamic department and inspire students across Years 7 to 13. The role involves teaching, leadership, and contributing to a supportive and innovative academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Religious Studies department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Deliver engaging lessons to students from Years 7 to 13, including GCSE and A Level courses.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the school’s strategic priorities and curriculum philosophy.
- Support students, including those learning in a second language, through individualized and inclusive teaching.
- Manage departmental budgets and complete annual department reviews.
- Promote the school’s values and contribute to co-curricular activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and enhance teaching practices.
- Ensure effective data tracking and student progress monitoring.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Religious Studies or a related field.
- Proven experience in teaching Religious Studies at both GCSE and A Level.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in departmental leadership.
- Commitment to student welfare and individualized support.
- Ability to manage budgets and complete annual reviews.
- Understanding of the school’s strategic priorities and curriculum philosophy.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and leading a departmental team.
- Familiarity with AQA and OCR exam boards.
- Experience with teaching students who are learning in a second language.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with co-curricular engagement and student pastoral care.
