The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Religious Studies to lead a dynamic department and inspire students across Years 7 to 13. The role involves teaching, leadership, and contributing to a supportive and innovative academic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Religious Studies department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Deliver engaging lessons to students from Years 7 to 13, including GCSE and A Level courses.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the school’s strategic priorities and curriculum philosophy.
  • Support students, including those learning in a second language, through individualized and inclusive teaching.
  • Manage departmental budgets and complete annual department reviews.
  • Promote the school’s values and contribute to co-curricular activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and enhance teaching practices.
  • Ensure effective data tracking and student progress monitoring.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Religious Studies or a related field.
  • Proven experience in teaching Religious Studies at both GCSE and A Level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in departmental leadership.
  • Commitment to student welfare and individualized support.
  • Ability to manage budgets and complete annual reviews.
  • Understanding of the school’s strategic priorities and curriculum philosophy.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading a departmental team.
  • Familiarity with AQA and OCR exam boards.
  • Experience with teaching students who are learning in a second language.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with co-curricular engagement and student pastoral care.
