As the Head of Religious Studies, you will provide academic leadership and drive excellence in teaching and learning. This role is ideal for an inspiring educator with a passion for Religious Studies and a commitment to supporting student wellbeing and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Religious Studies department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver engaging and innovative lessons that promote critical thinking and spiritual development.
- Support pupils’ academic progress and wellbeing through effective teaching and pastoral care.
- Collaborate with the Academic Director and other Heads of Department to shape curriculum and pedagogy.
- Promote inclusive practices and ensure effective assessment strategies across the department.
- Contribute to the wider academic and pastoral life of the school through extracurricular activities and events.
- Manage and mentor departmental staff to foster a supportive and professional working environment.
- Stay up to date with developments in Religious Studies and incorporate new ideas into teaching practice.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Religious Studies at a senior level.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in leading a department.
- A commitment to inclusive education and pastoral care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A relevant teaching qualification and current teaching certification.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- A passion for extracurricular activities and school life beyond the classroom.
- Experience in leading or supporting student wellbeing initiatives.
- Familiarity with Christian values and ethos in an educational setting.
