The Opportunity:
As Head of Safeguarding, you will be responsible for leading safeguarding and child protection across all school sections, including Junior School, Senior School, Sixth Form, and Boarding. This is a strategic, non-teaching role that offers the chance to shape policies, manage complex cases, and ensure compliance with safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the school’s safeguarding strategy and policies, ensuring compliance with KCSIE and National Minimum Standards for Boarding.
- Oversee the Deputy DSL team and collaborate closely with senior pastoral leaders.
- Provide expert guidance and support to staff on safeguarding matters, including online safety and staff training.
- Liaise with external agencies and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Promote a robust and embedded safeguarding culture throughout the school community.
- Manage complex safeguarding cases with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Ensure all safeguarding procedures are consistently applied and regularly reviewed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Significant experience in safeguarding and child protection, preferably within the education sector.
- In-depth knowledge of KCSIE and statutory safeguarding guidance.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills to guide and support the school community.
- Ability to manage complex safeguarding cases and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of boarding school safeguarding standards and practices.
- Experience in online safety and digital safeguarding initiatives.
