The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of School to lead Meadow Wood School within the Sunflower Federation. This role offers the chance to shape the future of a school committed to excellence and innovation in special education. The successful candidate will inspire students, lead a dedicated team, and contribute to the ongoing development of the Federation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inspirational leadership and strategic direction to Meadow Wood School and its co-located Breakspeare classes.
  • Ensure the highest standards of education and care for students with physical and neurological difficulties.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team of the Sunflower Federation to drive continuous improvement.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive school culture that promotes staff and student wellbeing.
  • Develop and implement policies that align with the school’s mission and the Federation’s strategic goals.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including parents, external professionals, and the local community.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, professional development, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a special educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience in driving school improvement and achieving high standards of education.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a multi-professional team environment.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and inclusive practices.
  • Experience in school governance or strategic planning.
  • A track record of successful school development or expansion.
  • Familiarity with the Sunflower Federation or similar educational partnerships.
