Summary:

Head of Science needed to lead and inspire a dynamic Science department at a thriving school in East Croydon.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science, you will lead a dedicated Science department and play a key role in shaping the curriculum to inspire a love of Science. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the school and the Ark Network to drive academic excellence and ensure students achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning
  • Develop and implement a knowledge-rich, innovative Science curriculum
  • Support and mentor Science teachers to enhance their practice and professional development
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and outcomes in Science
  • Collaborate with other departments and schools in the Ark Network to share best practices
  • Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to school-wide strategies and initiatives
  • Ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and achievement
  • Represent the Science department at meetings and events

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Science
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting
  • Strong subject knowledge in Science
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school or academy
  • Experience with the Ark Network or similar multi-academy trusts
  • Experience in developing and leading departmental strategies
  • Experience in driving academic outcomes and student achievement
  • Experience in staff development and mentoring
