As the Head of Science, you will lead a large and successful department, shaping the future of science education for students from KS3 to KS5. This is a chance to make a real impact on student achievement and inspire the next generation of scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a high-quality, progressive science curriculum.
  • Support staff development and professional growth within the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring all students achieve their full potential.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the school and trust to enhance science education.
  • Ensure the department meets all statutory and safeguarding requirements.
  • Represent the department at senior leadership meetings and external events.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Science education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Science curriculum and pedagogy at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to manage a large and successful department.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Experience with A-level and BTEC qualifications.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with multi-academy trust structures and collaboration.
