As the Head of Science, you will lead a large and successful department, shaping the future of science education for students from KS3 to KS5. This is a chance to make a real impact on student achievement and inspire the next generation of scientists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a high-quality, progressive science curriculum.
- Support staff development and professional growth within the department.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring all students achieve their full potential.
- Work closely with colleagues across the school and trust to enhance science education.
- Ensure the department meets all statutory and safeguarding requirements.
- Represent the department at senior leadership meetings and external events.
- Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Science education.
- Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
- Strong knowledge of Science curriculum and pedagogy at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
- Ability to manage a large and successful department.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Experience with A-level and BTEC qualifications.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with multi-academy trust structures and collaboration.
