The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Science to lead a committed Science faculty and drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and contribute to the strategic development of a high-achieving school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Science department with a clear strategic vision and direction.
  • Drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning across all Science subjects.
  • Inspire and motivate both students and staff to achieve excellence in Science education.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the strategic development of the school and Science faculty.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring high standards of achievement and outcomes.
  • Provide professional leadership, mentoring, and support to Science staff.
  • Implement evidence-informed teaching strategies and best practices in Science education.
  • Engage with the wider school community to promote the importance of Science and STEM.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within Science education.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve student outcomes and drive academic success.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Science and a commitment to high-quality teaching.
  • Experience in leading and developing a Science department.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A proven track record of recent success in education.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.
  • Familiarity with the National Teaching Schools framework and professional development opportunities.
  • Experience with curriculum development and enrichment programs in Science.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or collaborative educational environment.
