The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Head of Science - Maternity Cover to lead and inspire a dynamic department, driving academic excellence and fostering a culture of curiosity and innovation. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver and lead the science curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all students and aligns with the school’s high standards.
- Develop and implement teaching strategies that inspire, motivate, and challenge students across all ability levels.
- Manage and support science staff, fostering a collaborative and professional department culture.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the wider school community by participating in planning, sharing best practice, and supporting cross-curricular initiatives.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and development of all students.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school’s commitment to continuous improvement.
- Oversee pastoral arrangements and support for students within the science department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated commitment to child safeguarding and welfare.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and strong IT skills.
- Experience in leading a science department and delivering high-quality teaching.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Leadership experience within a school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with inclusive teaching practices and student pastoral support.
