The Opportunity:

As the Head of Standards, you will play a key role in leading and managing the setting and upholding of standards for a designated year group. This is a strategic position that impacts student behaviour, staff development, and overall school culture. The role offers the opportunity to shape a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the systematic and robust application of the behaviour policy for a designated year group.
  • Support and line manage the Behaviour Support Leader for the same year group.
  • Ensure high-quality care, guidance, and support for students in the designated year group.
  • Develop and implement strategies to uphold academic and behavioural standards across the year group.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including students, staff, and parents, to maintain consistent standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current practices and introduce improvements where necessary.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align standards with the school’s overall vision and goals.
  • Provide professional development and support to staff to ensure consistent application of standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in educational leadership or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and student welfare strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Experience in working within a school environment and with students aged 11-16.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership or standards-related role.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment practices.
  • Experience in delivering training and professional development to staff.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement frameworks.
