As the Head of Year 7, you will play a vital role in supporting students as they transition into secondary school life. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage year group activities and ensure the smooth running of pastoral care for Year 7 students
  • Monitor attendance and support students in developing positive habits and behaviours
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a supportive learning environment
  • Collaborate with the wider pastoral team to deliver a consistent and effective approach to student wellbeing
  • Support the school’s mission by promoting a growth mindset and emotional intelligence among students
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students during this critical stage of their education
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting using IT systems
  • Participate in staff development and training to enhance leadership and pastoral skills

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities
  • A genuine interest in student wellbeing and development
  • Basic IT skills for data management and reporting
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role

Preferred

  • Previous experience in pastoral care or educational leadership
  • Experience working with young people in a school setting
  • Knowledge of child development and best practices in student support
  • Experience in promoting a positive and inclusive school culture
