The Opportunity:

As a Head of Year, you will lead a team of tutors and be responsible for the academic achievement, progress, and pastoral care of a specific year group. This is a key leadership role that plays a vital part in shaping student outcomes and fostering a positive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the academic achievement and progress of a year group
  • Lead and support a team of tutors in delivering high-quality pastoral care
  • Monitor and report on student performance and behaviour
  • Work closely with senior leadership to implement school-wide strategies
  • Organise and deliver whole-year group activities and events
  • Ensure consistent and effective communication with parents and carers
  • Support the development of students through targeted interventions and guidance
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a leadership or middle management role within education
  • Strong classroom practice and a passion for teaching and learning
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to student welfare and pastoral care
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a year group or similar leadership role
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
  • Experience in working within an academy or multi-academy trust
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and delivery
  • Experience with data analysis and student progress tracking
