The Opportunity:
As a Head of Year, you will lead a team in providing care, guidance, and support to a designated group of students. This role plays a vital part in shaping student behavior, attendance, and overall well-being, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team of staff and students to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Oversee student behavior, attendance, and welfare, ensuring all students receive the support they need.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student engagement and academic outcomes.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other pastoral staff to provide a cohesive support system for students.
- Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and behavior regularly.
- Organize and lead student activities, assemblies, and events that promote school spirit and community.
- Provide guidance and support to students on personal, social, and academic issues.
- Work closely with senior leadership to ensure the school’s pastoral policies are effectively implemented.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role, ideally as a Head of Year.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative.
- Commitment to student welfare and academic success.
- Relevant teaching or leadership qualifications.
Preferred
- Experience in a comprehensive school setting.
- Experience with student behavior management and support strategies.
- Experience with pastoral care and student welfare programs.
- Familiarity with school policies and procedures.
