The Opportunity:
As Head of Year, you will play a key role in leading and managing the pastoral needs of a year group of up to 220 pupils. This is a dynamic and impactful position that requires a highly motivated professional with a passion for pastoral care and student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the attendance, behaviour, and academic progress of a year group.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff.
- Promote the well-being and achievement of all students through proactive support and guidance.
- Motivate and engage students, particularly those who present challenging behaviours.
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent and positive learning environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and behaviour regularly.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and attainment.
- Support the school’s pastoral vision and ensure alignment with its educational goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral or teaching role with a focus on student behaviour and achievement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and lead a year group effectively.
- Commitment to student well-being and academic success.
- Relevant qualifications and experience in education.
Preferred
- Experience in managing large year groups or pastoral teams.
- Background in working with challenging students and supporting their development.
- Experience in leading or contributing to whole-school pastoral initiatives.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Teachers' pay scale for inner London + Additional Allowance AA1b £12,511 per annum.
