The Opportunity:

As Head of Year, you will play a key role in leading and managing the pastoral needs of a year group of up to 220 pupils. This is a dynamic and impactful position that requires a highly motivated professional with a passion for pastoral care and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the attendance, behaviour, and academic progress of a year group.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff.
  • Promote the well-being and achievement of all students through proactive support and guidance.
  • Motivate and engage students, particularly those who present challenging behaviours.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent and positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and behaviour regularly.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and attainment.
  • Support the school’s pastoral vision and ensure alignment with its educational goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or teaching role with a focus on student behaviour and achievement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a year group effectively.
  • Commitment to student well-being and academic success.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in education.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing large year groups or pastoral teams.
  • Background in working with challenging students and supporting their development.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to whole-school pastoral initiatives.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Teachers' pay scale for inner London + Additional Allowance AA1b £12,511 per annum.
