The Opportunity:

As the Head of Year, you will play a vital role in supporting student well-being, academic progress, and school culture. This is a leadership position that demands strong interpersonal skills, a passion for education, and a commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a year group, ensuring the academic and personal development of all students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student behavior, attendance, and achievement.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Organize and deliver pastoral care programs, including mentoring and welfare initiatives.
  • Represent the school at various events and meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Work with senior leadership to maintain and enhance the school’s values and mission.
  • Ensure that all students are treated with respect, fairness, and inclusivity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • A deep understanding of student welfare and academic achievement.
  • Experience in managing a year group and delivering pastoral care.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a strong emphasis on inclusion and diversity.
  • Background in curriculum development or educational leadership.
  • Experience with sixth form student engagement and support.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement initiatives.
