The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Year (KS3/4) to lead a year group and support student progress across key stages. This role offers the chance to shape the pastoral and academic direction of a thriving institution while working with a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a year group with clarity, purpose, and strategic vision.
  • Monitor and support academic and pastoral progress for all students.
  • Develop and lead a team of eight Form Tutors, fostering a culture of wellbeing and achievement.
  • Deliver a strategic plan aligned with whole school priorities.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for students.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure consistent standards and policies.
  • Support student engagement and personal development through targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance student outcomes and experiences.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of team development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success.
  • Relevant teaching experience, ideally in Maths, English, Social Science, Drama, or Religious Studies.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a year group through key stages 3 and 4.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and pastoral care procedures.
  • Experience with curriculum development and student engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
